How the Qualifier Works
The CanWest Qualifier is an online competition held in the weeks leading up to the main event. Athletes and trios complete a series of WODs on their own schedule at an affiliate or home gym, then submit scores for ranking.
Qualifier performance determines invitations for Elite Individual, Masters Individual, Teens Individual, and Trio Team divisions.
Weekly Workouts (WODs)
Each season the qualifier is released as a set of numbered workouts (for example, CWG WOD 18.1 through 18.4 in the 2018 season). Every WOD includes:
- A primary description with rep scheme, loading, and time domain.
- Movement standards showing approved and no-rep positions.
- Variations for Masters 35+, Masters 45+, Teens, and Scaled athletes.

Submission Requirements
Scores are submitted through the official Competition Corner leaderboard. Video submission is required for the online qualifier process, so athletes should plan to film each attempt before beginning the workout.
Before you submit
- Read the WOD description, notes, and movement standards in full.
- Record an unbroken view of every required element (loading, reps, time cap).
- Enter your score on the leaderboard before the published deadline.
- Double-check reps and tiebreaker time — corrections after close may not be accepted.
Who Must Qualify
Online qualification is required for Elite Individual, Masters Individual, Teens Individual, and Trio Team divisions. Invitational Elite Teams, Intermediate Teams, and Scaled Teams enter through Divisions registration rather than the online qualifier.
